Family Time

We were introduced to Rob and Andrea via email by someone we met briefly in Milton, MA at the Celebrate Milton! fair.  We met up with them at Milton, WI’s new YMCA, where Ellie’s kid’s league was playing soccer and Miles was testing out his new walking skills.  They have have lived in Milton for only a few years, but grew up in small towns in WI.

What do you like about living in Milton?

There’s a great sense of community here.  The Y is a good example. It took a long time to raise the money, but it’s become a great gathering place for people with kids.  Our church St. Mary’s also has a great community to it.

Do you think you’ll stay and raise your family in Milton?

Definitely. We just bought a lot in the middle of the woods, because we have dreams of living out there, but we will still be in the MIlton school district which is important to us. It’s a great school district.

What is your advice for future generations?

Andrea-  It’s important to get out, to get away, of your own home town– even if you love it.  Even if you come back to it, like I did, it’s important to expose yourself to different ways of living.
Rob- Small towns are great.  But I lived in London, Chicago, and other big cities for a time– I studied abroad in school– but going away like that just makes you appreciate the small town life.

What should someone know about Milton, WI?

There’s a fantastic city-wide garage sale day on the 1st Saturday in June.  Our block really gets into it– people are selling stuff all day, and tailgating, grilling out… the kids are having a great time…  that’s a good day here.
