Heidi Zitterkopf

PearlDamour visits schools in all of the Miltons. In Oregon, we have been doing writing and performance workshops with Ms. Baneck’s middle school class based on the play MILTON. Here’s an interview with one of the students in that class –

How old are you?

I am 12. I am a student at Central and I live in Milton Freewater, Oregon.

What do you like about your city?

I’m gald to live in this town because it’s so small and it makes it easier  to make friends.

What is a dream you have for your life?

My biggest dream in my life is to help animals.

If you could change one thing about your country, what would it be?

My hope and wish this country is that anybody can live here, no matter the race.

What’s something new you’d like to try?

One thing that I really want to do that I haven’t done is go bungee jumping!

In our workshops we ask students to think about who they are and where they come from. Here is a poem Heidi wrote in response to these questions:

Sometimes…

Sometimes I wonder about life.

Sometimes I see my two sweet horses eating grass.

Sometimes I am handed a hand to hold.

Sometimes I hear my older brother singing.

Sometimes I worry if I’ll win my basket ball game.

Sometimes I smell freshly cut grass.

Sometimes I feel a soft blanket wrapped around me.

Sometimes I taste juciy steak somthered in BBQ sauce.
