Meredith Moore

PearlDamour visits schools in all of the Miltons. In Oregon, we have been doing writing and performance workshops with Ms. Baneck’s middle school class based on the play MILTON. Here’s an interview with one of the students in that class –

How old are you?

I am 13 years old. I am a student at Central Middle School.

What do you like about your city?

I am most proud of how we are close and together like a big family. I am glad to live in my town because we aren’t too big, but we are not too small either.

What do you want to change about your city?

If I could change one thing about my town, I would stop the gang and fight problems.

What hopes do you have for your country?

My hope for my country is more respect for cops. People are always finding a reason to protest and are very ungrateful of our police force. If it weren’t for them, our country would be very bad. The definition of freedom to me is the right to bear arms, being able to be whatever religion I want, having just as much right to get certain jobs as men, and of course, freedom of speech. The phrase “I am an American” to me means freedom.
