Epic Family Aventures

Tell us about the party you’re at right now.

Our family lived on this street for four and a half years before moving to Cambridge. Every year we come back for the annual St. Patrick’s Day party to reconnect and catch up with our old community. This is a fantastic party. It is the perfect example of a community coming together through food, music and great conversation. I look forward to it every St. Patrick’s Day. Plus, it does not hurt that the street is full of Irish families so they clearly know how to celebrate the holiday.

You said that your family values adventure– what do you mean by that?

Our adventure manifests itself through travel. We have 8-10 years left with our kids before they are off on their own adventures and we want to make their childhood epic. For us, epic means lots of global travel. Last summer we “exited normal” to immerse ourselves in the Parisian culture and in the fall we will be taking off an an extended adventure. We hope to show other families how affordable and exciting it is to take off and travel with kids. You can follow our adventures at goodiegoodiegumdrop.com.  Here are some of the reasons why we do what we do:

  • We travel because of our kids.
  • We want to spend as much of their childhood with them as humanly possible.
  • We value education and feel that the best way for our children to learn is through travel.
  • We want them to have an epic, out of the box childhood.
  • We want to expose them to real world experiences and people who live different than we do.
  • We want to invest in making memories and relationships with our children instead of buying stuff.

How has living in Milton compared to living in other places?

My husband and I have lived all over the US and I have lived in London. We have lived in urban cities, gang infested neighborhoods, college towns and much more. Milton was our first experience living in a suburb and our first experience truly being part of a community. It is a place where you know you can count on your neighbors to look out for you and from my personal experience that is not something that you can get just anywhere.
